This is the first year ever that I decided to take a word and make it my word for the year. I’ve read posts about this before, yet I’ve never felt led to do it until now. So here it is. My word for 2016 is…….
This word jumps out to me. It was impressed on my heart how much I need to have better focus in certain areas of my life. Some days I’m all over the place and wonder by the end of the day what I have done. So needless to say this word is very necessary for this mama. Once I knew for sure that this was my word, I googled it to see what sort of things came up. A few quotes stood out to me, so I wrote them out and now have these reminders in my wardrobe so that I can read it everyday as I get ready:
“Set your intention every day.” Oprah
“Your life is controlled by what you focus on.” Tony Robbins
“Act the part and you will become the part.” William James
I also found a great statement about what focus is on the website “Learning Works for kids”. It states: “Focus is the thinking skill that allows people to begin a task without procrastination and then maintain their attention and effort until the task is complete. Focus helps people pay attention in the midst of distractions and setbacks and to sustain the effort and energy needed to reach a goal.” So there you have it.
I feel like I am making positive moves forward as I focus on a few areas of my life, like my relationship with the Lord, my spouse, my children, journaling, self-care, budgeting, and keeping up with the never ending chores (haha).
Do you have a word for 2016? If so, please share it in the comments and let’s keep each other encouraged as we strive to live it out this year with great passion!
Happy New Year friends!
