It’s Friday (!!!), and a long and busy week it’s been for us in our household. My sister-in-law had a darling baby boy a week ago so TheHubby and I had a glimpse into what having three kiddos was like as we babysat our niece along with our two boys. It was fun, albeit a little (ok, who am I kidding, A LOT!) chaotic at times. Nevertheless, I’ve decided to take the cue from my lovely friend Christie and want to introduce a new weekly (or bi-weekly?) installment called, “Family Fridays”.
As a mom of two rambunctious boys, I’ll be the first to admit that life with kids can be challenging. Whether it’s getting everyone changed, fed and ready to leave the house ON TIME (still working on that…), keeping my toddler from flushing all the toilets in the house (over and over and over again) or helping my 4 year old prepare for his first year of Junior Kindergarten, there are days when I feel fresh out of mommy energy, by 9am in the morning.
As I sit here and type this post, however, I am reminded that my family is a blessing. “Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from Him,” Psalm 127:3. No matter how exhausted I am at the end of the day, God has blessed and gifted me with TheHubby and our Littles, and it’s something I never want to take for granted.
So my hope for “Family Fridays” is to post about simple and easy ways to be more present within our families. It could be a new tradition to start, a mommy-friendly date night idea (let’s face it, a healthy marriage is imperative to a healthy family), or a kid friendly recipe for the whole family to help with.
That being said, I always try to remind myself that investing my time (which, in all honesty, is probably my most important asset now as a parent) in both God and my family will have eternal value 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
