Say No November: No Excuses November

Wow! November 1st already?

How did that happen? Did seem October fly by for anyone else?

As you may have read in a previous post, a few of us have decided to dedicate “saying no” to something this November. After much thought, some prayer and deliberation, I’ve decided that this is going to be “No Excuses November” for me.

What does that mean?

Well, unfortunately I have really let my prayer life and time in the Word fall by the wayside. I have two busy munchkins (3 years old and 9 months old) and I have allowed other things to be more important, or just not placed a high enough importance on prayer and time reading the Bible as I should. I have been neglecting something that should be so important to me – that is so important to me – and I can feel it deep within in me.

So, for the month of November, to help me get back on track I’m saying “no” to any of the excuses that might hold me back.
I’m saying no to not having enough time, to being too tired, to watching TV first or even sitting down to knit BEFORE spending time quieting my heart and drawing close to The Lord. It might happen during naptime, or once the kids have gone to bed, maybe first thing in the morning, or while my kids are busy playing. But I’m committing to making it a priority.

I’ve decided that rather than go through a study, I’m going to camp on Isaiah 40 during the month of November and really focus on these words, hopefully memorize the chapter and prepare my heart for the Christmas season. I’ve also purchased a prayer journal to help me focus and to be a visual reminder of slowing down, stopping and really spending time in God’s presence.

Have you committed to say no to anything this November? Would you like to join me?

Blessings,
Frances
