Since becoming a mom, I’ve learned that practicing what you preach is very (very!) important. I found myself lecturing TheBoy the other day on the importance of drinking a lot water, especially during the summer months when the weather is extremely hot.
After our talk, TheBoy looked at me and asked, ever so innocently, “Mommy drink lots of water too?” Ha! I’ve always had difficulty drinking 4 glasses a day that 8 glasses seems quite impossible. I’m not sure what it is, but perhaps I don’t think about it while rushing around with two kiddos all day or more simply, I forget. So I looked my little guy in the eye and promised to “try harder.”
Since then, I’ve come across a couple of pinterest posts on infused water. I have to say, I am a sucker for pretty things and this certainly caught my attention. I attempted to make some the other day and not only did I love the taste (It really tasted good!) But TheBoy loved it too.
If you are expecting a sweet watery taste, you’ll be disappointed. It’s a hint of flavored water, but tasty indeed. It was easy to make, even TheBoy helped by stuffing the bottles with fresh fruit and addinf the water. After a few hours, the flavors could be tasted but we left ours overnight to infuse and the flavours were bursting the next morning.
I’ve seen different recipes using herbs but I stuck to what I had on hand in the fridge. My next recipe will be mint leaves, lime and cucumber! Sounds refreshing, doesn’t it? So, if you’re like me and have a hard time drinking 8 glasses of water a day, try infusing your water with whatever fruits or veggies you have in your fridge. We personally like any citrus fruits 🙂 Visually, it makes me want to down the whole bottle in one sitting!
