A devotional thought

I have a friend who won’t look at herself in the mirror before she’s looked into the Word and spent time with the Lord. What a beautiful challenge! As women we can sometimes get caught up with our appearances (although as a mom, I must confess that I don’t always have this luxury and have admittedly gone days without a shower). However, the enemy likes to draw us inwards and make us think of ourselves -what we look like, what makes us feel good, etc. We can get so caught up with this that we don’t have eyes to see those around us or be used by the Lord.
This morning I was reading Colossians 3:12-14. We are called God’s CHOSEN, holy and beloved! And we are given a profound directive to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience…and above all, LOVE! If I’m caught up clothing myself with my new outfit or doing my hair and haven’t taken the time to read God’s Word and spend time with Him, how can I expect to love others or even head into the day with a thankful heart or right attitude.
What a nice reminder to prioritize the greatest priority!
